Rüdiger Racism Case Closed by Metropolitan Police

Things that currently tire me: January, the weather, Trump, VAR and racism in the Premier League and the UK.

On the 22nd of December Chelsea’s centre half Antonio Rüdiger was “allegedly” (I shouldn’t have to use that word) a target of racial abuse by a Spurs fan. Chelsea’s captain made Anthony Taylor aware of what Rüdiger had heard, temporarily halting play leading to three crowd announcements declaring racism will not be tolerated in the Premier League.

After Chelsea won 2-0, Spurs declared they would take the “strongest possible action” against Rüdiger’s abuser(s).

A Metropolitan Police investigation including “extensive reviews of CCTC” discovered no evidence of racism.

No CCTV in a newly built stadium? Meaning: Rüdiger lied or misheard the crowd that day; the CCTV at Spurs’ ground is insufficient for dealing with these incidents or an inadequate police investigation was conducted.

It is not my place to discuss the above although I am certain Rüdiger did not lie.

But why on EARTH was the ONE Spurs fan with the courage to admit he heard the monkey chants not contacted… by Spurs or the Police?

I have only theories for this but for now racism will continue to occur in our sport, our ground and our country if these incidents are not dealt with properly.

To conclude here is Gary Neville speaking on the subject of racism after this incident.
