Liverpool v Manchester City – An Unmissable Heavyweight Clash

Today the Champions of Europe host the League Champions in what promises to be a heavyweight clash!

Liverpool are looking to extend their lead over Manchester City to 9 points, resigning them to fourth going into the international break. Liverpool are undefeated in the league this season and without a loss at Anfield in over 30 months, meaning Pep’s City will have to be at their scintillating best to leave victorious today.

The midweek press conferences saw Guardiola claim Mane is a special talent: “Sometimes he’s diving, sometimes he has this talent to score incredible goals in the last minute.” Klopp said he wouldn’t mention “tactical fouls” in his response.

This war of words showing cracks in a formally respectful relationship between the two managers, stemming from their time coaching in Germany. Head-to-head results between the managers are equal going into the clash between the two best sides in England.

This war of words the latest crack in the managers relationship which had been formed out of mutual respect.

There have been some great clashes previously between the two sides: Liverpool defeating Manchester City 3-0 in the UCL Quarter Final before winning 5-1 on aggregate was a particularly great moment for Liverpool.

Midweek Aguero claimed Man City’s “clasico” wasn’t Liverpool but against a side currently lingering in 14th, Manchester United. True maybe but Liverpool are undefeated and top of the crop meaning Man City can’t afford to treat this as anything other than a “clasico”.

So make sure those Sunday roasts are finished early, grab a pint and enjoy this unmissable game which kicks off at 4pm!
